Salivary
The wild crabapple
has sharp thorns
grows skinny limbs
Fast
like little girls
climbing early
for a taste of sour

The Walnut Tree
Southern sunshine
led us to seek
cool shade,
shelter and fortress.
Four children
laughing, climbing,
nailing ladders;
houses in the sky.
Cracking beyond stains,
to reach the sweet
of richer meat.
Such is the way
of memories.
